All good things had to come to an end eventually. Came May 17, the BlogMobbers, Samsung Mobile and Mobile World got together for the winners announcement and more importantly, some socializing and good food. The get-together was held at Izzi KL and each one waited anxiously to find out if they are the lucky ones to get to keep their phone. But what they didn’t know is that Samsung had some extra surprises in store for the BlogMobbers. The closing event kicked off with a short presentation which had everyone in stitches. Just to recap, there are several contests running within the BlogMob program. The bloggers stood to win phones for the highest site traffic and for the best overall postings on their blogs. There is also a ‘Show your phone to the most’ contest where the BlogMobber who have the highest count will win. The presentation showed some of the highlights from the 16 blogs. And there were plenty to choose from. We really recommend that you visit each of the 16 blogs to see what they did with their Samsung phones. Then came the announcement that made everyone even happier. Instead of just three phones, Samsung was going to give away an extra phone for the best overall postings and seven cool Bluetooth headsets for those who put in extra effort for the past one month. Mobile World also made sure that no one walked home empty handed as we also gave away 6 months free subscription to Mobile World magazine to those who didn’t win anything. To add to our booty of prizes, Lydia Teh donated a copy each of her award-winning books, Life’s Like That and Honk! If You’re Malaysian. Besides that, there was good food and great company to keep everyone in high spirits. The lucky few To keep the suspense a little longer, we decided to give away the Bluetooth headsets first and the chosen few were Jason Lioh, Amy Lai, John Ling, Visithra Manikam, David Cheong, Mohammad Norizwan and Jazlin Ernida. Sadly this also meant that they lost a shot at the phones. Sorry guys. The winner of the highest site traffic category went to Vincent Chow, who appeared in awe that his site beat everyone. He himself could not believe it but we assured him that the phone is his for the keeping. ‘Show your phone to the most’ contest was a tight race and on Fri the entire MW team was mobilised to count the pictures over and over again. It didn’t help that our Internet connection was problematic on that day and some of the blogs were heavy with hi res images. However at the end of the day Ellie Chee proudly took the crown home with a total body count of over 300! Taking pictures seem second nature to her as she took pictures of herself and others throughout the event. Lastly the two best overall blog postings went to Ng Jun Yan and Lydie Teh. Jun Yan who dubbed himself Phone Lover stayed true to his namesake as he came up with a whopping 29 posts about the phone. And that, my friends, totalled more than 30 pages of printout. Hmm, maybe we should rope him in as one of our phone reviewers. Lydia, the most tech-challenged of all, also put in great effort to put the phone into maximum use. Of course her dear children gave her a helping hand and her way with words won half the battle. Now she can duly chuck that old phone of hers out and own the best phone in her family. How about that for a desperate writing housewife? We also saw some reluctant faces as we went around collecting the phones back since of course nobody wanted to part with the Samsung phones that they came to know and use extensively for a month. In addition Norizwan and his team of bboys put on a great show for us just before dinner. They managed to make the best out of the limited space without knocking over our buffet table and drinks. They showed us some pretty nifty moves and body contortions that you will only see on MTV. Did anyone upload the video to YouTube? Thanks, Norizwan! Samsung and the MW team loves you. With the formalities over and done with, it was time to eat and mingle. It was a Saturday night well spent. For more pictures and BlogMob info, drop by our BlogMobbers’ blogs.
